Always one to go fast, Joey Logano proved he can push the limits on anything with four wheels — even if it is a golf cart.
La 2015 Racing for Hope event held on July 16th in Portland, CT was a partnership between The Joey Logano Foundation and The Connection. The event hosted 96 golfers at Quarry Ridge Golf Course along with 310 dinner guests at Saint Clements Castle. Attendees were able to celebrate Joey’s racing roots while supporting work of two charities working to make a positive impact in the community.
Family and friends from the community spent the day with the driver of the #22 Shell Penzoil Ford as he worked his way through the course, occasionally taking a swing. At dinner, guests listened as he and emcee Mike Massaro traded racing stories on the stage. Proceeds from the event will benefit Logano Place, a transitional housing program for homeless adults run by The Connection.
Joey was thrilled with the day’s turnout.
“We had such an amazing day. To see hundreds of supporters take time to celebrate with us was inspiring. From this event, Logano Place will receive over $50,000 in funding to continue working with homeless adults who are actively working to recover from behavioral health and substance abuse issues. This funding will be used to provide these individuals a second chance.”
En 2014, Logano Place opened at The Connection with a $35,000 donation from The Joey Logano Foundation. La conexión ha sido uno de los líderes privado de Connecticut, agencias de servicios humanos y de desarrollo comunitario sin fines de lucro. Each month thousands of people throughout Connecticut are assisted by The Connection’s diverse behavioral health, programas de apoyo a la familia y la justicia comunitaria. Estos programas se reúnen las familias, romper los ciclos generacionales de abuso y negligencia, crear más seguro, comunidades más saludables y ayudar con los asuntos de enfermedad mental y de adicción.
“We are grateful for the tremendous support that Joey has provided to our program”, said Peter Nucci, President and CEO of The Connection. “Logano Place has given its residents reason to have hope for the future”.
