Park Street Residence

The Park Street Residence and Supportive Services Program, formerly of ALSO-Cornerstone, offers case management and residential housing services, in a clustered-site setting.  Park Street residence provides housing to 14 individuals with mental illness or a dual diagnosis of mental illness and addictions. Trained staff are on duty 24 hours a day to provide support and counseling to residents. Although staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, clients are free to come and go as they choose.

The program includes development of a comprehensive plan of service for each client, including:

  • Case management (Coordination of vocational, employment, financial, psychiatric, medical and social services)
  • Daily living skills training
  • Supportive housing
  • Crisis intervention
  • Medication supervision (if needed)
  • Recreational activities
  • Assistance with transportation

Residents must be able to pay their own housing costs and a modest monthly service fee (reimbursable through the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services [DMHAS] funding or private insurance, depending on the individual). This program is designed for individuals who meet eligibility criteria set forth by the Department of Mental Health or for individuals with other private sources of support.

Park Street Residence is conveniently located in downtown New Haven, near the Connecticut Mental Health Center and Yale New Haven Hospital. There are two fully furnished units in a lovely three-story, recently renovated brick building on Park Street for community service clients. This building offers attractive accommodations, including air conditioning, cable television, private baths and kitchenettes with microwave.
